Peter Sidhom was born in Egypt of a Maltese-Italian mother and an Egyptian father, and settled in England at the age of ten. After reading Modern Languages at London University, he studied singing with Hervey Alan and Josephine Veasey.

Peter Sidhom has appeared at many of the world's leading international opera houses including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Schaunard La Bohéme, Monterone Rigoletto, Capulet Romeo et Juliette, Paolo Simon Boccanegra); Opera Bastille Paris (Faninal Der Rosenkavalier, Heerufer Lohengrin); La Monnaie Brussels (Michele ll Tabarro, Gianni Schicci); Teatro Comunale Florence (Estoban Der Zwerg); San Fransisco Opera (Alberich Der Ring des Nibelungen); Glyndebourne Festival (Paolo Simon Boccanegra); Theatre du Capitole Toulouse (Schaunard La Bohéme and Teramund Lohengrin); Staatstheater Stuttgart (Scarpia Tosca) Teatro Real de Madrid (Faninal Der Rosenkavalier); Teatro La Fenice (Mr Flint Billy Budd). Opera-in-concert highlights include Alberich (Das Rheingold) with the Sydney Symphony and Edo de Waart, and Scarpia with the Israel Philharmonic and Antonio Pappano.

He has sung leading and title roles with all of the British companies such as Rigoletto, Alfio, Tonio, Don Alfonso and Scarpia for Welsh National Opera; Escamillo, Macbeth, Pizarro, Count (Figaro), Klingsor, Alberich and Balstrode for English National Opera; Germont, Vigelius (Ferne Klang) for Opera North; and Bohus (Jacobin) and Alberich (Der Ring des Nibelungen) for Scottish Opera. He sang the Count in the BBC television production of Mozart The Marriage of Figaro.

Recent productions include Alberich (Der Ring des Nibelungen), Scarpia (Tosca), Grigoris (Martinu The Greek Passion) and Paolo (Simon Boccanegra) at Covent Garden, Falstaff, Pizarro (Fidelio) and Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier) for Scottish Opera, The Traveller (Death in Venice) for the Bregenz and Aldeburgh festival, L’Africaine in Strasbourg, Der Rosenkavalier at San Fransisco Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Don Estoban (Der Zwerg) at La Monnaie Brussels, Balstrode (Peter Grimes) at the Bastille, and Napoleon (War and Peace), La Gioconda and Das Rheingold, with English National Opera. He sang Alberich (Siegfried) in concert with the Cleveland Orchestra and Christoph von Dohnanyi.

Equally at home on the concert platform, Peter Sidhom has appeared in all of the major concert halls in England. He performs regularly with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and appears frequently at the BBC Promenade concert series. Conductors he has worked with include Richard Armstrong, David Atherton, Martyn Brabbins, James Conlon, Paul Daniel, Andrew Davis, Christoph von Dohnányi, Mark Elder, Bernard Haitink, Richard Hickox, Oliver Knussen, Sir Charles Mackerras, Antonio Pappano, Carlo Rizzi and Edo de Waart.

His recordings include Baron Douphol La Traviata and Marullo Rigoletto both for Teldec conducted by Carlo Rizzi, the role of Pascoe in Ethel Smyth's The Wreckers, recorded live by Conifer at a BBC Promenade Concert in 1994 and Carmina Burana with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for Tring.

Future plans include Alberich (Der Ring des Nibelungen) for the Opera National de Paris, Balstrode (Peter Grimes) for Flanders Opera, Scarpia (Tosca) in Tours, and Klingsor (Parsifal) for Nice Opera.
